ROMANCE PARE... ROMANCE...
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Butterflies in my tummy. That is the ever present feeling in my body whenever I find myself in a new romantic relationship. His smile can just kill you. The accidental touches electrifies you. The feeling is just amazing.
The first few weeks of a relationship is... for lack of a better term... F*CKING GREAT.
This is when you check your phone every single minute just to make sure you've read all of his mesages. Back in the day, before the whole unlimited texting, being bombarded by SMS coming from a potential love is THE ultimate ligaw move. Why not? P1 for every text message sent? That's not bad. Not bad at all. It's love.
Flowers do not really have a special meaning to me because I see them as clutter. It's also kinda depressing to see them wilt and just die and dry up. But when your new beau gives it to you, accompanied by an uber yummy chocolate and an even more yummy smile, you just can't help but feel weak but the good kind. If you get white roses, that's cute. If you get the fancy, mall-bought, sari-sari looking pile of flowers, it's a sign he's willing to spend. What happens if you get red roses? Romance pare... Romance...
Okay. Let's step on a time machine and move a couple of months ahead shall we? *insert corny time travel sound effect here*
This time, you are already a couple. Someone asked someone to be one's boyfriend and then someone said yes. The first few dates are the best. Nice movies. Trips to the arcade. Dinner at nice (read: expensive) restaurants and even coffee after that. You give each other thoughtful gifts to celebrate your mini accomplishments as a couple.
Life is sweet. Romance pare... Romance...
Everything I listed earlier are just superficial, materialistic desires of someone who's been in a relationship long enough. Although nothing can make a relationship work better and stronger than fidelity, respect and love, being reminded of how things were every now and then will just permanently stamp a smile on your face. The problem with a lot of people right now is that they give everything in the beginning and then slowly take it back in time.
May include potential spoilers. If you haven't fallen in love, don't read this blog. Don't you dare read this blog.

Being in a relationship is hard. Although some couples I know make it look quite easy, staying in a committed relationship, just like your job, should pay you by the hour. When you are in a relationship, you get exposed to things you wish you didn't have to deal with. All of a sudden, you realize that the thoughtful gestures you did, or was done to you, during the start of the relationship was meant to make things appear to be all nice and beautiful. Your once flooded inbox in your mobile phone suddenly becomes more "roomy". You get 5 messages if you're lucky. The flowers will be replaced by carefully arranged text icons that looks like a flower in your mobile phone. And the picture-perfect dinners? Consider yourself lucky if he asks you, "Tara hon. Zagu tayo.", or he brings you to places where toys come with the food.

I wish guys knew how good it feels to know that even after the butterflies in my stomach have probably died, the feeling is still alive...
